Most newsletters have similar goals: to keep in touch and maintain relationships with affinity groups, and to offer a view of the company or organization from a different perspective than advertising or promotional materials.

We view periodical publications as one element in the overall communications strategy. To that end, we've refocused and redefined several of the newsletters we've produced through extensive interviews with key company personnel and through focus groups of readers.

As designer/writers, we've also frequently provided writing and/or editing services on the newsletters we produce. At the very least, we're paying attention to the words, catching typos and alerting the client when the text doesn't quite say what we think they are trying to communicate.

We also recommend keeping in mind that your newsletter or magazine is competing with every other printed piece the reader encounters – plus all the other media they're exposed to. That's why we make them compelling.
